Numerous accidents have involved young children falling victim to loops made of cords, chains, ribbons and manoeuvring ropes. In order to prevent such dangers, it is essential to keep these components out of the reach of children, as they can cause strangulation or entanglement, with the risk of the cords wrapping around the child's neck.

It is recommended to keep beds, cots and furniture away from the ropes used to operate window coverings,
also avoiding joining several ropes together in order not to create unintentional loops.

Mottura uses special protection devices in its assembled systems (where ropes, ball-chains or similar elements are present) to prevent strangulation and asphyxiation risks.

A specific range of products is available which are suitable for safe use in environments frequented by children due to the absence of ropes or chains or any element that could put their safety at risk.

Mottura and certified devices against strangulation risk

The strangulation protection devices offered by Mottura with regard to 'child safety' meet the requirements of EN 16433:2014 and 16434:2014 and clauses 8.2 and 15 of European standard EN 13120:2009+A1:2014.

Specifically, Mottura offers the following safety devices:
